Gameplay-wise, Expedition Zero offers more than what other survival horror titles have. Besides fighting the infested, you will also wander around creepy woods and look for resources. However, the storyline is pretty bare bones. There are very few clues as to what is really going on in the world at large.

What is Expedition Zero?

Expedition Zero is a horror adventure game set in a post-pandemic world. As mentioned, it locks you in a facility infested with a mysterious disease. Your goal is to cure the disease by finding several samples. However, they are scattered all over the map, and to get them, you will complete various puzzles. Of course, there will also be combat scenarios in some cases.

As this is a horror game, there will be a monster on the loose. Every time you pick a sample, the monster will show up and try to murder you. It will not mean an instant game over though, and you can scare them with a rifle. Some zombies are also lurking around. However, they have the dumbest AI and just stand there while you whack them with a crowbar.

What makes the game scary is the overall atmosphere. While you are exploring, each map will give you an eerie feeling with its sound effects and visuals. Additionally, other elements will keep you on your toes, including a weight and size limit. With this, you have to be careful with how much you're carrying. Moreover, the upgrades you get have downsides, like using your battery power.

Is the game good?

Overall, Expedition Zero lives up to its survival horror name. All the elements for the genre are there. However, the story is somewhat dry and doesn't seem like it is trying for replayability. It also doesn't help that there are significant bug issues in the app. In fact, some players report having to restart from the beginning because of the game’s bugs.
